This policy applies to tickets purchased through the NCS Rail online reservation system (e-ticketing). The refund amount shown on
the Cancel Seats and Full Refund screens is calculated automatically by the system
according to Pakistan Railways rules and the method of payment you used.
General rules for online refunds
- Refund is only available for valid, paid bookings that have not already been cancelled or fully refunded.
- Seats cannot be cancelled after train departure. The system will block the cancellation request in this case.
- Per-seat insurance and Dam Fund charges are non-refundable and are deducted automatically from the refundable amount.
- Service charges applied by the payment channel (e.g. credit/debit card or mobile wallet) are also deducted as per the
payment provider's rules.
- The exact refund amount, all deductions and the net amount that will be returned to you are displayed
before you confirm the cancellation.
Full Refund / Special cases
In certain cases (for example, specific train delays or operational issues) the system may allow you to request a refund using
the Full Refund option available under your member account:
- Where eligible, the system will indicate on screen whether a full or a
reduced refund is available for the affected order.
- The eligibility and percentage of refund in such cases are controlled by Pakistan Railways policy and may vary by train and journey.
- The Full Refund screen clearly shows the total fare, all deductions and the final refund amount before you confirm.
How the refund is paid
- For card payments, the approved refund is returned to the same card account subject to the timelines of the card-issuing bank.
- For mobile wallet and over-the-counter (Omni / JazzCash / EasyPaisa, etc.) payments, the refund is processed back through the
same channel. The confirmation screen will show whether the amount will be credited to your account or collected from an agent/shop.
Note: The online system always applies the latest rules configured for fares, cancellation windows and service charges. If there is
any difference between this text and the amount shown by the system at the time of cancellation, the system amount will prevail.
Paper Ticket Refund Policy (Reservation Offices)
The following rules apply to computerized passenger paper tickets purchased in advance from Pakistan Railways
reservation offices. These refunds are handled at reservation counters and are not processed through the online e-ticketing system:
- Up to 90% refund is allowed up to 48 hours before departure of train.
- Up to 80% refund is allowed between 24 to 48 hours before departure of train.
- Up to 70% refund is allowed within 24 hours before departure of train.
- Up to 50% refund may be allowed when tickets are refunded within three hours after departure of train
(as per Pakistan Railways rules notified on 25-08-2011).
